Tulip tree

The American tulip tree (Liriodendron tulipifera) is much prized in gardens and parks for its noble trunk and stately dimensions, its fine and unique foliage and its rich yellow autumn colour. This specimen is the second largest of the Garden and measures 355 cm (2001) in girth. The largest and tallest tulip tree of the Garden measures 41 m in height and 489 cm (2001) in girth.
